The Little Engine That Could

I’m sure the little engine that could, like all of us, had friends or relatives that told her, “I think you CAN’T!”

So when she faced a challenge, she had to choose whether to believe the voices of those closest to her or her own inner voice.

And if she had heeded the voices of her (possibly well intentioned) friends, she never would have made it over the mountain. Even one moment of doubt could have stopped her in her tracks.

For doubt is the great enemy of achievement. It turns molehills into mountains and stops all forward progress.

Some of the greatest minds in the world will go unrecognized by history because they doubted their own abilities. Meanwhile, lesser lights will shine through the ages because they had the conviction to believe in themselves.

In truth, there is no limit to what the human mind can achieve - if it believes.

As Buddha said, “A monk who is skilled in concentration can cut the Himalayas in two.”
